The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that, where necessary, premises are equipped with appropriate fire fighting equipment that is easily accessible, simple to use and indicated by signs.  The most common type is fire extinguishers.

The responsible person should also nominate competent persons who are trained in the safe use of any equipment provided.  Therefore, if you provide fire extinguishers in your workplace, you should also train people how to use them.
